Oh Brother

On September 13, 2012 our sweet little boy (Isaiah David Davis V, aka QJ, aka Brother) was born. Hannah was less then enthused about meeting her little brother. She made sure we knew that she needed equal attention. If you held QJ, you had to hold her too. If you couldn't, because you were changing his diaper, she'd just climb on your back.

At first I was a little concerned that her transition, from only child to big sister, was going to be bumpier than I expected. We prayed and tried to encourage Hannah to help out with Brother. We made sure to always say Good Morning and Night Night to Brother. We gave him lots of hugs & kisses. We all played together. Anything I could think of to help her adjust to the new addition to our family.

Now here we are 11 weeks later and she loves her little brother. Whenever he cries, she wants to comfort him. She come running "are you okay Brother?" Or she'll say "I know, I know." And when he doesn't stop immediately, she'll say "oh Brother." Which is my fave. They are both so sweet, I just love seeing them together.

She's still working on being gentle. I have to keep watch that she doesn't hurt him when she's giving him a bear hug or shoving his pacifier in his mouth. Brother isn't quite sure what to think of his big sister, but he's definitely fascinated by her. As are we all. ;)
